We are the Nelsons: a small-town preacher and a first-grade teacher. After 5 years of marriage, we have decided to spread the love and grow our family through short-term foster care and international adoption.
We are volunteers with a national organization called Safe Families for Children, and we are committed to opening our home and our hearts with a moment's notice to take in children whose families are in crisis. The goal of the program is always reunification of a stronger and healthier family, and we consider it an honor to offer suport during their time of need.
Meanwhile, we have also begun the process of adopting a baby boy from Ghana! We believe that adoption is one answer to a very real global crisis and we are humbled that we have the opportunity to make an impact in this way. We are passionate about adoption as a tangible representation of God's pure and selfless love and as an opportunity to extend grace, mercy, hope, and healing to the hurting.

We will use this site to document our journey as we press on with gracious uncertainty and navigate the waters of completing an independent international adoption from Ghana. We cannot predict the twists and turns that we will face along the way, but we are moving forward with the blessed assurance that, someday soon, we will travel to Africa to bring home our sweet baby boy!
